our history

Kensington Cricket Club India is an affiliate club of Kensington Cricket Club, London (www.kensingtoncricketclub.com) – a social cricket club set up in Earls Terrace, London in 1843 and reborn in 1973 in the Burroughs of Kensington, London. But more on it’s long and interesting history in a separate page.

Kensington CC India has a brief but rather accomplished history – the club was launched last year in November 2016 as an affiliate of the parent club when Deepak Ramachandra moved to Mumbai after spending 15years in London and rallied other like minded friends to start playing propah’ cricket for fun. The aim to play good cricket against quality teams, socially and competitively but with the right spirit and preferably at beautiful cricket grounds in the city and around the world. Call us snooty but we wont play at Azad Maidan or Shivaji Park. The club is as much about cricketing ability on the field as it is about skills at the bar post the game. We love our cricket and play it passionately on field, but its at the post match drinks where the real game is played!

The club today comprises 60+ members most above 30yrs, successful professionals from investment banking, finance, consulting, advertising, media and film – but sharing the same passion and enthusiasm for the game.In just our inaugural year, we played 25 games which included tours to Goa, Kerala and a week long tour to the UK, playing club sides in and around London. This year we added Sri Lanka and Croatia to the tours calendar and played even more games. We are on our way to set our own long and interesting history in the years ahead.
